Show me a mama who didn’t come crashing down to earth with a bang after bringing the much-awaited bundle of joy home from the hospital for the first time, and I’ll show you a unicorn that breathes glitter. Life as a new mum is tough, and no one has captured it quite so perfectly as Lisa Scott in her fantastic publication Doodle Diary of a New Mom.
Whether you found yourself desperately reaching for your mobile phone while trying to keep a sleeping or feeding baby happy, hitting the accelerator pedal to get to your destination in the shortest possible time to escape the earth-shattering cries of a unhappy backseat demon, or found yourself knee deep in shizen, there is bound to be something in here that resonates with you.
I, for one, can totally see myself in almost all these cartoons; life with a newborn is certainly no piece of cake. As a stay-at-home maidless mama, I was the one who walked around with my half-washed hair covered in shampoo and dribble down my t-shirt (dribble that wasn’t bub’s).
If you’re looking for quick, easy and cheap birth control… these doodles may just be it. Welcome to the real world Mama… they do say that an easy life is a wasted life!
