Great Postnatal Yoga Classes in Singapore to Find Your Post-Bub Zen

Postnatal yoga classes promise to help mamas find their inner calm, banish the pregnancy tummy and strengthen the core. Hell, even if you don’t lose the post-preggo pouch, at least you’ll enjoy some much-needed time out and maybe even energize your physical and spiritual health in the process. Sounds perfect. What’s even better is that there are plenty of postnatal yoga classes to choose from in Singers.

Como Shambala are holistic wellness experts who combine science with ancient healing. Their postnatal yoga classes focus on poses that help new mothers to regain strength and stability in the core abdominal, pelvic floor and back. They also share some deep-breathing relaxation exercises, which are bound to come in handy during stressful situations, like when bub pukes in the car seat as you’re heading out the door to an important meeting. They recommend that mothers wait until four to six weeks after vaginal birth and 10 weeks after a caesarean section to take this class. Babies are welcome.

The Ohm Santih post-natal yoga classes focus on key poses that can help you to regain your muscle strength and stabilize your core. This class places a heavy emphasis on helping mamas to lose excess body fat and droopy skin following bub’s arrival, so if your post-pregnancy pouch is getting on your nerves, this may well be the school for you. Private classes are available for those mamas who don’t want to have their wobbly bits on display in front of those annoying mums who shed the post-baby weight by sneezing after bub’s arrival.

Inspire Mum and Baby

Inspire Mum and Baby offer a course of postnatal yoga classes on a private or private group basis. The great thing about arranging your own sessions is that anything goes, and the instructor can tailor the session to meet your needs and/or bub’s temperament! To arrange private sessions you will need at least six people, so be prepared to rope some other mamas into coming along with you.

What’s the cost? Private sessions are $1100 for ten sessions, group sessions are $300 per hour with a minimum of six participants.

OMG Yoga

OMG yoga is slightly different from some of the other postnatal yoga classes on offer in Singapore because baby gets a work out too. Getting out of the apartment can be tough in the first few weeks of motherdom; luckily, OMG yoga offers one-on-one sessions in the privacy of your own home. Failing that, get a group of new mamas together and you can downward dog in unison.

What’s the cost? The fees for private sessions vary according to the group size but range from $250 – $420 for four one-hour sessions a month.

Mother and Child

Popular with the expat crowd, Mother and Child offers postnatal classes at both their East Coast and Tanglin Mall offices. Mamas are welcome to join any time at least six weeks after a natural delivery, or 12 weeks after a caesarean section. Bub is welcome to join but for safety reasons they should not be mobile in any way i.e., no crawlers or walkers.

Where: Sessions are held at their East Coast and Tanglin Mall offices.
When: Friday 2.00pm – 3.00pm (Tanglin Mall)
What’s the cost? 4 classes for $130, 8 classes for $240 and 16 classes for $385. A single class costs $35. Interested mamas should note that there are currently only two postnatal yoga sessions a week so a larger package may be difficult to use up.
