Being a new mum is quite frankly terrifying. It doesn’t matter how many books you have read, how experienced you are with kids, or how many gadgets and gizmos you have purchased, as soon as you bring that little bundle of joy home, you rapidly realise that it isn’t as simple as smug-pregnant you thought it would be and, no, it isn’t just the bad mamas who mess things up.
Here comes Facebook to the rescue. With a click of a button you can access valuable sources of knowledge, learn from the wisdom of groups, and ask what seems to be the most basic and obvious questions without fear of judgment (well most of the time anyway). One of the biggest advantages of all to social networking groups is that you’ll quickly realise there are tons of moms in exactly the same boat as you: sailing somewhere in deep
scheiße waters between Clueless and Incompetent without a paddle in sight.
What’s great about many of these forums is that many of them are completely private; so if you want to have a good old rant about your mother in law, tell the truth about how you dropped baby on his head, or wax lyrical about why your parenting philosophy is the way to go, you can do so without fear that everyone on your friend’s list is party to the conversation.
