5 Free Places to Watch The Singapore National Day Fireworks 2012
The Singapore National Day fireworks signify the end to the Singapore National Day Parade (NDP) and represent the perfect end to a day of celebration. This year’s special event falls on Thursday the 9th August and it marks Singapore’s 47th Birthday. The fireworks will be launched from various locations dotted around Marina Bay between 8pm and 8:30pm.
The Marina Bay Sands Boardwalk is situated right in the heart of the action and will bring you up close and personal with the fireworks as they are launched in the Bay. It is situated right in front of the Marina Bay Sands. This location will be suitable for families with older children, as the close proximity to the fireworks may be slightly intimidating and too loud for very young members of your family.
If you’re looking for something more than fireworks alone then consider spending the evening at the Esplanade Waterfront Promenade. This year’s National Day will be celebrated with a wide range of activities, including live performances, video screening and even face painting.
This is another great location where you can combine watching the fireworks with some family fun and entertainment. This year a huge carnival will be located at the Marina Barrage that will host a large flea market and some live entertainment. Although you may not get the unobstructed view of the fireworks that is available at other locations on this list as a result of the Barrage’s position behind the Marina Bay Sands, there will still be plenty to see and do and the distance away from the fireworks may make it a slightly more suitable location for younger children.
If you’re looking for a slightly less crowded location from which to enjoy the National Day fireworks then the Marina Boulevard Open Field will be perfect for you and your family. Take some deck chairs, a picnic and even some games for while you are waiting for the event to start and spend a nice pleasant evening under the stars.
Enjoy the Singapore National Day Fireworks, wherever you watch them!
